What the Complete Edition includes
A Steam purchase of Total War: SHOGUN 2 - Complete Edition includes the updated game and, according to Creative Assembly’s FAQ, the original SHOGUN 2 plus its associated DLC, except the Blood Pack. Epic Games Store, the Microsoft Store, and GOG sell the Complete Edition only.

The package
Creative Assembly describes Complete Edition as an updated SHOGUN 2 with all of its DLC in one PC package, developed by MATABOO, Creative Assembly, and SEGA. The campaigns named in that description are the base game, Rise of the Samurai, and Fall of the Samurai. Steam’s own “about this game” text matches that scope and then lists the technical additions: improved visuals, 1440p and 4K interface scaling, modernised controls, Japanese and Chinese voice and text, more than 50 newly playable minor factions, Mod.io support, and a 64-bit upgrade.
SEGA’s September 2026 announcement adds two items that the Steam bullet list does not spell out: ultrawide monitor support and colourblind accessibility options. Steam does list “Color Alternatives” among the app’s categories, along with adjustable text size, adjustable difficulty, a mouse-only option, play without timed input, and save anytime.
The clan select in a Steam screenshot already shows a minor clan, Honma, as a playable choice in the SHOGUN 2 campaign. The FAQ does not print the rest of the new names. The factions page stops at what those sources actually show.
What each store sells
| Store | What the FAQ says you receive |
|---|---|
| Steam | Complete Edition, plus the original SHOGUN 2 and its associated DLC, excluding the Blood Pack. |
| Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store, GOG | Complete Edition only. |
The Blood Pack exclusion is explicit. Creative Assembly and SEGA both tie it to age ratings. The pack, on the original game, added blood and gore effects. Buying Complete Edition does not, on the FAQ’s wording, add that pack to the original copy that Steam bundles in.
A second DLC sentence is easy to mix up with that exclusion. The FAQ says current Steam owners of the original game are granted any original DLC they do not already own, at no charge. That sentence does not itself say whether the Blood Pack is part of the free grant. SEGA’s launch notice has a general footnote that the Blood Pack is not included. This guide will not guess which reading applies to owners who never bought the Blood Pack.
Steam’s support URL field points at support.sega.com, and the support email field in the app details was empty. That address is SEGA’s game-support site, not a contact for this guide. This site’s contact statement is on the contact page.
Names of the older DLC
The Complete Edition store page does not reprint a pack-by-pack manifest. It says “all of its DLC” and names the two campaign expansions. Wikipedia’s article on the 2011 game records the original downloadable packs. Treated as a history of that release, the list includes:
- Ikko-Ikki Clan Pack, dated 26 May 2011, adding that clan, unit variants, a technology tree, the historical battle of Nagashima in 1574, avatar armour, and avatar retainers.
- Sengoku Jidai Unit Pack, described as ten elite units.
- Saints and Heroes Unit Pack, described as nine hero units.
- Rise of the Samurai, a Genpei War campaign plus new land, hero, naval, and agent content, and the historical battle of Anegawa in 1570.
- Hattori Clan Pack, carrying the ninja clan and the Battle of Nagashino scenario that had started as limited-edition and pre-order material.
- Otomo Clan Pack, a Christian clan with a shifted research tree and more Western-style units.
- Battle of Kawagoe, a historical battle that had been a GameStop pre-order unlock.
- Blood Pack, which Complete Edition’s FAQ leaves out.
- Fall of the Samurai, the 23 March 2012 standalone expansion. Wikipedia’s note on the 2013 European and Australasian Gold Edition also names the Saga, Obama, Tsu, and Sendai clan packs, plus a Dragon War Battle pack, among the extras in that compilation.
Those are names from the historical record of the original releases. They are not a screenshot of the 2026 Steam package contents. Where the FAQ and that historical list disagree in emphasis, the FAQ is the rule for what Complete Edition claims to contain: the updated game and associated DLC, campaigns included, Blood Pack excluded.
Price and the loyalty discount
On 14 October 2026, Steam’s US app details returned $39.99 with a zero discount percent and a single purchase option. That response does not show the owner-only loyalty price. Creative Assembly’s FAQ, published before launch, set the shelf price at £34.99, €39.99, and $39.99. SEGA’s Japanese sheet lists 5,990 yen including tax.
The official Complete Edition site says everyone who already owns SHOGUN 2 on Steam automatically receives a 75% launch discount on Complete Edition. The window in the FAQ runs from launch on 13 October 2026 at 16:00 BST until 12 November 2026 at 16:00 GMT. After that date the FAQ does not promise the discount.
From 28 September 2026, the original game stopped being sold on Steam as its own product. The old store page stays up. People who already own it keep playing, and Steam owners receive original DLC they were missing. Complete Edition does not delete or replace that install. The comparison with older editions covers the 2011 boxes and the Gold sets.
Languages on the Steam listing
Steam marks full audio, in the English app-details feed, for English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Japanese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Turkish. Additional languages without that full-audio mark are Czech, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), and Spanish (Latin America). The store’s marketing bullets single out new full Japanese and Chinese voice and text as Complete Edition work.
Other flags on the store page
The app is tagged Single-player, Multi-player, PvP, Online PvP, LAN PvP, Co-op, Online Co-op, LAN Co-op, and Cross-Platform Multiplayer. The cross-platform tag does not name the other platforms. Steam Cloud, Family Sharing, HDR, surround and stereo sound, and “Includes level editor” are also listed. Achievement count in the same feed is 105. Highlighted names include Stranglehold, Carve a Path, Uniter of Japan, Double Dragons, Keeping to Tradition, Modernisation, Loyal to the Clan, Serve with Honour, Path of the Leader, and Skilled Warrior. Unlock conditions for those names are not in the feed used here.
Hardware limits for this package are on the system requirements page. How Mod.io relates to the old Steam Workshop is on multiplayer and mods.
